We publish engineering guides about building, extending and maintaining Shopify stores: the platform basics, theme and storefront work, apps and integrations, conversion and growth, and the cost and hiring side. Every guide is written and reviewed in house by developers who maintain stores on the platform, and published with the date of its last review — including when the review changed nothing.
How we pay for it. We build Shopify themes, custom apps and migrations for companies. That work is completely separate from the editorial side: a client cannot be covered more favourably, and no client is named in a guide.
What that means for the guides. No app, theme shop, agency or partner can buy a mention, a ranking or a link. Where a guide recommends an approach, it is because it fits the catalogue and the rules being described. Where we have a commercial relationship with something we discuss, the guide says so in the text.
Independence. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of Shopify Inc. Shopify is a trademark of its owner and is used here descriptively.
This platform moves. Shopify ships changes constantly — theme architecture, checkout extensibility, API versions. We re-review guides on a schedule and re-date them, and where a technique has aged badly we say so in the text instead of quietly deleting it.
Corrections. If something here is wrong or out of date, write to us and we will fix it and re-date the guide. Corrections are made in the text, not quietly.
